Interviews of professors at Kalindi College illegal: DUTA

The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) on Saturday alleged that the ongoing interviews for the post of economics professors at Kalindi College were “illegal”, and must be stopped immediately.

“The vacancy advertised for the commerce department (eight in number) did not mention the number of posts corresponding to these economics papers. This was despite the fact that the total workload against which these eight posts were advertised included three posts relating to the economics papers,” DUTA president Nandita Narain said.

The advertisement did not even state that candidates possessing an MA economics degree (with requisite qualifications) could apply, she said. “In absence of the inclusion of this specific requirement, which ought to have been mentioned in the advertisement (corrigendum), many eligible candidates from the domain of economics have not applied in response to the college advertisement,” she added.

“Even otherwise, in this case, the resultant vacancies related to the pure domain of commerce stands at five, but the total number of candidates called for the interview is in excess of the permissible limit,” the DUTA president said.
