Interview row: Bassi briefs HM

A day after registering an FIR over the controversial interview of one of the December 16 Delhi gang-rape convicts, Delhi Police on Wednesday said that it will probe why the full content of the work was not shown to the authorities.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi was summoned at the Home Minister, where he briefed Rajnath Singh about steps taken so far in this case. After returning from the meeting, Bassi told the media that the police were focussing on the criminality of the case and violation of law, while mentioning that they will soon question parties involved in the matter and arrests will be made based on findings of the probe.

Tihar jail Director General Alok Verma also met the Union Home Minister on Wednesday. In the evening, a delegation of All India Democratic Women’s Association reportedly met the Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) and demanded FIRs to be registered against the two defence lawyers in the Nirbhaya case, who allegedly passed derogatory remarks when interviewed for the documentary.
