Inter-state gang of highway robbers busted, six arrested

With the arrest of six men, the Delhi Police have busted a gang of inter-state highway robbers who allegedly used to pose as policemen and committed robberies in Delhi and NCR areas.

The police said the six were identified as Naveen, alias Nikshu; Sunil, Vinod, Rajeev, Nihal and Rajkumar.

The police said a canter loaded with paddy was intercepted by the gangsters, who  were in police uniform, near the Red Fort on November 7.

The accused asked the canter’s owner Inder Singh and his driver, Rahul, to show the documents of the vehicle and the paddy that they were carrying. Police said the gang overpowered the duo, tied their hands and drove them to Sonipat, from where they fled. Of the six, two drove away with the canter.

The canter’s owner informed the police and a case was registered at the Kotwali police station. It was with the help of CCTV footage and previous cases that the police  could identify that the robbery was committed by one Nikshu gang. Raids were conducted in Qutub Garh village and Naveen, alias Nikshu, was apprehended.

He disclosed the names of his gang members and the paddy bags were recovered from Panipat, police said.
