Inferno at bike showroom, building collapses

Fire broke out in an automobile showroom in  a commercial building gutting more than 500 motorcycles placed on display in a showroom on the GT Karnal road in North-west Delhi’s Azadpur area on Tuesday. 

According to fire department officials, there was no casualties or fatal injuries in the mishap. 
Police said that they are investigating the matter. Bikes worth crores were gutted in the fire which started from the first floor of the building which further spread to the fourth floor where the showroom was located, said a fire official.

According to a fire department official, they received a call at around 4 pm that fire broke out in the showroom of Yamaha and Hero motorcycles in a four-storeyed commercial building in the Azadpur area. 

The official said that more than 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the blaze. It took more than one-and-a-half hours to douse the flames. The official said that due to the fire, the building collapsed.

Meanwhile, police said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire broke due to a short-circuit in the AC. Investigation is still on, said an officer.
