Infant’s body found near bush in Birbhum

Tension prevailed at Jamuri village of Parui in Birbhum after some local people spotted the body of a new born near a bush. After seeing the body lying near a bush, the local residents on Monday
morning informed the matter to the police.

Police reached the spot and recovered the body.

They later sent the body for post mortem examination.

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the baby was murdered somewhere else and the body was later dumped in the village.

As per the investigation, police said that there were injury marks around his neck which suggests that the baby was throttled to death.

Police have, however, started a detailed probe into the incident.

Kamal Das and his wife who first spotted the body told the police that when they were going to work in the field, they saw the baby. After being informed, the local people also reached the spot.

Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the victim. Police are also investigating if there was any infant racket operating from the area.

As an international child trafficking racket has been busted by the Criminal
Investigation (CID), it has come to light that

various nursing homes from across the state are allegedly involved in the trafficking racket and the district police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure if the child was stolen for selling out outside the state but later killed in fear of being caught.
