Inebriated youth thrash cops on duty, two arrested

Police said that they have arrested two persons identified as Sachin and Lalit and on Monday after which the duo was sent to judicial custody. Police said that the incident took place at around 1.30 am on a main road in Sector 6 when two constables, both named Ashok were out on patrolling duty. The
constables saw a group of five youth, sitting in a car, creating nuisance on the road after getting drunk.

Sources said that Lalit and Sachin, who are brothers, had parked their car on the roadside and were allegedly consuming alcohol and shouting along with three others.

A senior police official said that when the constables approached the group and told them not create nuisance, the group got into a heated argument with the constables. While all of them left the spot after the constables reprimanded them, Sachin and Lalit came back and started thrashing the constables.

The official said: “When the constables asked them to behave themselves and leave the place, the two brothers became furious and started beating the two constables. Moreover, the accused brothers even tore the uniform of both the constables.”

Somehow, one of the constables managed to free himself and made a PCR call. After which, additional force from North Rohini police station rushed to the spot and the accused brothers were arrested, police said.

Meanwhile, the constables were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said that they have
registered a case under Sections 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the IPC at the North Rohini police station against the two brothers.
