India’s first ever tea carnival begins today

The Indian Tea Association in collaboration with Jadavpur University will hold ‘Chai Ho Jaye’, India’s first ever tea carnival on Tuesday.

The programme will be held in connection with Sanskriti, JU’s annual fest on Tuesday. During the three days of festival there will be activities like tea testing and sampling session, flash mob performance along with a session with the mixologists where tea mocktails will be prepared with different flavours of tea from green to Darjeeling, CTC and orthodox tea.

The programme which is a part of B2Y (business to youth) campaign aims to make tea the most popular and preferred beverage among the youth. Tea is evolving from its age of strong, milky sweet kadak chai to amazingly modern and versatile drink, catering to the needs of modern Indians and their lifestyle. Tea is coming up as a vibrant drink. AK Bhargava, chairman, Indian Tea Association along with his colleagues will be present at the carnival. There will be the history and development of tea industry over the ages.

Tea is consumed by many as a health drink and many people take green tea to keep themselves fit. The changes that have taken place over the years need to be communicated to people. Treating the guest with a cup of tea or discussing something over a cup of tea is an age old practice.
