India’s favourite city, Delhi: Conde Nast

With assembly elections in the city just a year away, the Delhi government got a huge boost. New Delhi is adjudged the favourite Indian city by Conde Nast Traveller India magazine at an award ceremony held on Thursday.

Conde Nast Traveller is a UK-based luxury travel magazine, whose travel awards are recognised internationally as a benchmark for excellence in the travel and tourism industry.

The Readers Travel Awards were instituted by Conde Nast Traveller in United States in 1988 and the UK edition has been conducting the Reader’s Travel Awards for the past 14 years and are widely acknowledged as the most prestigious awards in the travel industry.

On behalf of Delhi government, chairman, of Delhi Tourism, Manish Chatrath, and MD & CEO of Delhi Tourism, GG Saxena, received the award from Parvez Diwan, secretary (tourism) Government of India, at a glittering ceremony.

Chief manager of Delhi Tourism, Sudhir Sobti, said, ‘It is indeed a prestigious award for the city and a moral boosting for our tourism department’.

The award ceremony was attended by some of the most eminent names in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
