Indian wrestler Satyawart lifts Rustam-e-Int’l title

Indian wrestler Satyawart won the 11th Rustam-e-International Indian style Dangal 2015 wrestling title by defeating Belarus’ Ihor Didyk in the final bout in Katra here.

Satyawart was on Monday awarded Silver Gurj, Patta and cash prize of Rs 60,000 after he defeated Didyk who got cash reward of Rs 40,000.

In other main contests, Indian wrestlers Binia and Parvindra defeated Ukrainian wrestler Myhailo Datsenko and English wrestler Leon Gregory Rattigan respectively.

Wrestlers from four countries including India, England, Ukraine and Belarus participated in the event which is part of ongoing Navratra festival 2015. As many as, 33 bouts, including eight bouts of women wrestlers, were fought at the Vivekanand Sports Stadium in Katra during the event.

Minister of State for Finance and IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta, who was the chief guest on the occasion, greeted the people on the occasion of Navratras.

He also appreciated the organizers of the wrestling competition -- J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, J&K police, Tourism Department, Navratra Festival Committee, District Administration and all other agencies -- for holding the event to promote goodwill among the various countries.
