Indian Museum to reopen few closed depts

The museum authorities had a plan to open various departments undergoing construction works within the pujas, but due to some delay that was not feasible. However, the authorities are optimistic that the renovation works will be completed before Christmas.

A senior official of the Indian Museum said that all the departments could not be thrown open before the pujas as “renovation works have been going on in various departments. All the departments will be made open for public during Christmas,” the official said.

In February 2014, the museum completed 200 years of its foundation. On this occasion, the authorities decided to renovate and modernise various departments. As per the plan, departments like Bharat Gandhar, Coins, Archeology, Decorative Art and Textile have been renovated already and they were thrown open for public. But important departments like Bronze, Pre-historic, Masks are still kept out of public view as they are still undergoing renovation.

According to an official, there was no haste in completing the renovation works of the various important departments as it may cause damage to antique. The renovation work would give a new look to the museum and attract more number of visitors.
