India weak-kneed as US refuses to budge

First signs of India giving in to unwavering American pressure on Devyani Khobragade case became evident as Salman Khurshid softened his stance and words on the issue on Sunday. Hoping for an ‘early resolution’ of the issue,  he said that India and the US are making efforts to resolve the stand-off over the arrest of  the senior Indian diplomat in New York. ‘World keeps moving forward. Something will happen,’ Khurshid said, a grave departure from his earlier tough stance on the consular row. Reacting to US state department welcoming his remarks on Indo-US ties, Khurshid said, ‘They (the US) must do something. Welcoming is not enough.’
