India Inc’s fund raising dips to 6-month low

Fund-raising by India Inc through private placement of debt securities or bonds fell to six-month low of Rs 14,420 crore in September.

According to the data available with the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), Indian companies garnered a total of Rs 14,420 crore from the debt on a private placement basis route through 122 issues.

This was the lowest amount raised in by companies through private placement of debt securities since April when they had garnered Rs 23,515 crore through the same route.

'In the corporate debt market, Rs 14,420 crore were raised through 122 issues by way of private placement listed at BSE and NSE during September 2012 compared to Rs 34,892 crore raised through 186 issues in August 2012,' the Sebi noted.

Thus, companies have mobilised a total of Rs 1.8 lakh crore in the first six months of the current fiscal (2012-13), lower than Rs 2.61 lakh crore mobilised in the entire last financial year (2011-12).As per Sebi data, companies had mopped-up Rs 57,745 crore in July through private placement of debt securities, while Rs 26,250 in June and Rs 23,993 crore in May.
