Indian ambassador to China S Jaishankar made a rare visit to China's resource-rich western Xinjiang province on Friday, which borders India, and discussed greater cooperation in energy and infrastructure.
An Indian company has set up a factory in the province for the first time and India is hoping to broaden the scope of improving trade and cultural relations with the region.
Jaishankar had a lengthy meeting with Nur Bekri, the governor of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, as it is officially called, to explore the expansion of business and trade contacts between Xinjiang and India. Â Â Â
