In-laws kill pregnant woman by giving wrong meds

A pregnant woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws when they forced her to take medicines meant for cancer patients when she was suffering from fever.

The incident took place at Golabari police station late night on Thursday.

Police said the victim Monorama Sonkar was married to Amit in 2005. The in-laws’ house of Manorama was situated at a distance of around one and a half kilometer from her parental house. The victim’s family members claimed that the accused had started torturing the woman within a week of their marriage as her father had failed to keep supplying money as and when demanded by them.

The woman had lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws with the police in 2006. But the matter was then settled amicably. But again, the trouble began after a year and the woman had again moved to the police. In a bid to avoid the arrest, the accused and his family members had once again settled the matter and assured that there will be not be any further trouble.

They have a ten-year-old boy and she had become pregnant again five months ago. The accused had once again beaten her up. She fell sick after being beaten up and she was suffering from high fever.
