‘The funny thing in my life is that my only success is with the first time director. Anytime I have gone away from the first time directors, things have not worked for me,’ Imran started his career with Abbas Tyrewala’s directorial debut Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, a hit at the box office.
‘Logically, if I think about Kidnap, the director (Sanjay Gadhvi) had given a blockbuster like Dhoom, but it didn’t work for me. My understanding is that I should work with guys of my age,’ added the 30-year-old.
Imran teamed up with experienced directors like Vishal Bharadwaj for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Milan Luthria for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara, but both the films bombed at the box office.
‘But you have to understand that if you are in this business, this is a reality that more than hits you will have flops. It’s part of your business,’ Imran added.
