Imposter arrested for blackmailing businessman posing as I-T official

The Delhi Police have arrested an accused who impersonated as an Income Tax official and blackmailed a businessman of North-west Delhi. He tried to take benefit of demonetisation to scare the victim and cheat him. The cops arrested him after through investigation. Nitesh Jha tried to befool a businessman posing as an Income Tax officer. He continuously gave him calls and threatened him to raid his office and house if his demands are not met. Initially, the businessman thought some genuine tax official is giving him calls but later he decided to approach police and lodge a formal complaint in Jahangirpuri.

The cops initiated an investigation and the numbers from where the accused called were traced and soon the cops knew that he was an imposter and trying to cheat the businessman. “He revealed that he indulged in committing the said crime believing that nobody would suspect him as in the wake of demonetisation, Income Tax personnel were conducting raids at various business houses or hubs. Hence, he decided to impersonate as a Income Tax Officer,” said Milind Dumbre DCP North-west Delhi.
