Illegal firearm suppliers held; 20 weapons seized

Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested two inter-state suppliers of illegal firearms. According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Prem Pal Singh(62) and Anvesh Babu(20).

Keeping in view the alarming trend of use of illegal firearms by the criminals while committing heinous crimes, teams of the Crime Branch were tasked to take action against the gangs supplying illegal arms in Delhi.

Police said that on September 28, they received a tip-off that one Prem Pal, leader of one of the syndicate operating in UP, would come to deliver a huge consignment of arms to one of his contacts near Ganda Nala Najafgarh and Uttam Nagar Dwarka. A team led a trap and Prem Pal was arrested at a designated place. A bag was recovered from Prem Pal who was carrying twenty firearms and six live cartridges.

During sustained interrogation, Prem Pal revealed that they operated from Western UP and Delhi. He said that he belongs to the area which is notorious for supplying illegal arms. 

He came in contact with the person who are engaged in sale of country-made pistols and to earn big profit he too started selling illegal arms at a good margin in Delhi and NCR area through Avnesh Babu who started supplying arms to the criminals on the basis of commission after taking it from Prem Pal. Police said that he they would get the weapon for Rs 10,000 per pistol and sell them for around Rs 15,000 per piece thus earning around Rs 5,000 on each transaction.
