If CPI(M) is elected, reign of terror will start: Mamata

If CPI(M) is voted back to power it will again start violence and make the life of people in Jangalmahal miserable, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday.

She was  addressing a rally on Saturday afternoon. She said only Trinamool Congress had the power to oust CPI(M) and end its 34 years’ misrule in West Bengal. “The Congress is its B team and this has been proved now.”

“What CPI(M) had done in the past 34 years? Nothing, except fanning violence. The people used to play Holi with human blood. But the situation has changed and in future not too distant Jangalmahal will show the path of development,” she said.

Lashing out at the Opposition she said the Opposition did nothing but now are trying to stall development because of sheer jealousy. People in Jangalmahal have seen what development has taken place and will just throw out the unethical alliance of Congress, CPI(M) and BJP. She urged the people not to get scared and vote fearlessly. The first phase of election in Junglemahal is scheduled to be held on April 4.

Banerjee said that in the past four and a half years tremendous development had taken place in the area. She had visited Jangalmahal more than 100 times. The Jalsathi project has benefited the people. The poor people are getting two square meals a day because of Khadyasathi where rice at Rs 2 a kilogram is given to them. Kanyashree project has reduced the drop out of girls in schools and Sabuj Sathi has given them cycles which help them to reach school.

Banerjee said those who collect kendu leaves had been brought under development scheme and if they meet with accidents, arrangements have been made to give them financial support. “Trinamool Congress looks after the poorest of the poor and this is no lip worship,” she remarked.

Banerjee said super specialty hospital had been set up where treatment is free. “This had never happened in the past where people get treatment free of cost in state run hospitals.” Banerjee added that in the past four years the stress was on infrastructure building and now the concentration would be on economic development of the area.

She said that industries would come up in the area.

The Trinamool Congreess chief also addressed two rallies in Nayagram and Gopiballavpur. Both the areas were infamous for violence before 2011 when Trinamool government came to power. Banerjee urged workers to build contacts with people and not to fall in the trap of Opposition.

“They will try to provoke you but maintain cool and rest assured that Trinamool is coming to power, ” she said.
