ICAI holds National CMA Practitioners’ Convention

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India in association with Eastern India Regional Council has organised National CMA Practitioners’ Convention 2016 on at J N Bose Auditorium, CMA Bhawan at the headquarters of the institute in Kolkata. The theme of the convention was “CMA Profession – Achieving Excellence in New Horizon”. This mega convention was well participated by a large number of ICAI member delegates from India and abroad. 

Managing Director Sukhmani Developers (P) Ltd, Rajendra Singh  inaugurated the programme as the Chief Guest and acknowledged the role of CMAs in cost consciousness and cost leadership in global competitive environment. In the inaugural session, welcome address was given by Chairman of NCPC 2016 CMA Avijit Goswami. President of the Institute, CMA P V Bhattad offered the presidential address and vote of thanks was given by Chairman of EIRC, CMA S P Padhi.

The programme consisted of three technical sessions to provide assistance to practicing members in current and global environment, cost audit, cost accounting standards and cost auditing standards. The technical sessions were followed by Q & A session where eminent speakers discussed on contemporary issues of cost audit. 

An interactive session on Cost Audit was graced with the presence of R Asokan, Advisor (Cost), Cost Audit Branch, MCA along with MCA Officials and CMA Kunal Banerjee, Past President of the Institute. Other sessions were conducted by CMA Ashok B Nawal, CMA Niranjan Mishra, CMA P Raju Iyer, CMA Vijender Sharma, CMA Sanjay Gupta, CMA Papa Rao Sunkara, CMA Amit Apte Council Members, ICAI, CMA Kaushik Banerjee, Secretary, ICAI, CMA B B Goyal, Advisor, ICWAI-MARF and vote of thanks was given by CMA Biswarup Basu, Council Member, ICAI at the valedictory session of the convention. The whole programme was anchored by CMA H Padmanabhan, Council Member, ICAI.

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India is a statutory body set up under an Act of Parliament in the year 1959. It is the premier professional body imparting Education, training and propagating Cost and Management Accountancy in India and abroad. The Institute is presently having approximately 5,00,000 students and 68,000 members all over the globe. 

The Members are in service with Government, Public and Private Sectors, are occupying high positions like CMDs, CEOs, CFOs and so on. Besides, many members are involved in practice also. The Institute is headquartered in Kolkata having four Regional Councils in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, 96 Chapters in India and 9 overseas Centers.
