IAF C-130Js to land in Dharasu

After undertaking two rounds of reconnaissance missions Wednesday and Thursday, the Indian Air Force’s newer troop transporters, the C-130Js – two of them - have communicated to the service brass that they could land in Dharasu, west of the Indo-Nepal border.

They can then begin evacuating people from the flood affected areas of Uttarakhand, that have been devastated in many places by landslides from Friday.

Both the Air Force and the Army have been on the job for the past three days evacuating stranded people who were pilgrims to the various temple towns of Kedarnath and Badrinath, besides numerous trekkers and even village residents.
