I won’t resign from Cabinet: U’Khand tourism minister

‘I am loyal to Congress party and will not resign from the cabinet post. I will also work for the campaigning of party candidates at all parliamentary constituencies. I will take extreme decision only at the instructions of Soniaji.’

Tourism minister and three times MLA Amrita Rawat told to mediapersons at her residence. In her straight-forward tone, she puts an end to all speculations that she will follow the footsteps of her husband Pauri MP Satpal Maharaj. She said that Maharaj’s decision to quit the Congress party and join the BJP was his personal matter as everyone is entitled to choose his/her career path in a democratic country like ours. But it doesn’t mean that she will also follow her husband. Maharaj has given me full authority to take my own decisions regarding political career of mine. ‘I am a dedicated Congress worker, and sincerely work for the welfare of people of this state. We are here to serve people, not for any worldly gain,’ she added.

‘The people who are criticizing Maharaji for not visiting disaster-hit villages after the last year June calamity should know that he along with his two sons visited many dangerous zones to provide relief to the effected people,’ she told.
