I was nervous to work with Akshay Kumar: Sidharth

Actor Sidharth Malhotra says he was nervous about sharing screen space with action star Akshay Kumar in upcoming film Brothers.

The Ek Villain star, who plays Akshay’s younger sibling in the Karan Malhotra directed <g data-gr-id="79">film</g>, said he prepared himself extensively to shoot with the Khiladi actor.

“I had a different action in Ek Villain. When I heard that I will be doing Brothers with Akshay sir, I was very nervous and anxious. We have been seeing him doing action from so many years and we loved him... My fear motivated me to do the film and I worked hard for it,” Sidharth told reporters during the promotion of the movie here. In the film, Sidharth is pitted against Akshay as they are involved in some family feud. Sidharth compared Brothers with Karan Johar’s family drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and called it K3GMMA.

“<g data-gr-id="87">Brothers</g> is an emotional story of two siblings like K3G. It’s a family drama first and mixed martial arts is there in the backdrop. Here also, men have the habit of keeping things to their heart. We are yet to see the final <g data-gr-id="86">result</g> but I can vouch that men will get emotional after seeing the movie,” he said.

The model-actor, who started his cinematic journey with Karan Johar’s college romance Student of the Year, said he tried to turn recluse for Brothers as instructed by his director. “After Ek Villain I didn’t do anything. I either used to sleep or train myself for the film. I grew my beard and my director even asked me not to make any public appearance. I tried that <g data-gr-id="88">too</g> but you can’t say no to photo shoots.”

Sidharth said they would get over the intense shoot by playing cricket on the sets. “The entire energy on the set after pack-up used to be different. Akshay sir and I used to crack Punjabi jokes to make the environment light and we would play cricket,” he said.

The movie, which is the official remake of Hollywood film Warrior, also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie <g data-gr-id="90">Shroff</g> and Shefali Shah in pivotal roles. Brothers will hit the screens on Friday.
