I was gang-raped for opposing wrongdoings of rivals, says Jharkhand Muslim BJP leader

A Muslim BJP leader in Ranchi on Tuesday claimed she was gang-raped because she was working for the BJP and had opposed the wrongdoings of her political opponents in Ranchi. She also claimed that she was offered to join the Congress and Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch of Mandar MLA Bandhu Tirkey in Jharkhand.
The victim had lodged an FIR with Chanho police station, 45km from here, on Monday and claimed that seven robbers raped her and then robbed her of Rs 30,000 in cash and jewelleries. All the accused in the case are Muslims.
‘Five years ago, I was offered by Congress former MP Rameshwar Oraon to join the party and Mandar MLA Bandhu Tirkey also offered me to join. Because I did not join the Congress or Tirkey’s party they are always against me. The two hold influence in the area. But I continued to work for the BJP and oppose the wrongdoings of local leaders. I have motivated a large number of Muslims in Chanho to vote for the BJP and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. I think the incident might be linked to it,’ the victim claimed.
A BJP leader said despite being a Muslim she has motivated a large number of Muslims in Chanho to vote for the BJP and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. ‘The entire area has voted for BJP,’ said the women. The victim, however, clarified that the incident occurred because of various past issues (victim opposing the wrongdoings in the area) and not because a large number of Muslims from Chanho voted for the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls.
