I want to build my stamina and speed for Olympics: Saina

Olympic-bound Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal today took time out from her hectic training schedule to support her home team Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League.

Saina, who is also the brand ambassador of the Hyderabad-based team, said she is preparing for the London Olympics in earnest.

'The Olympics is still three months to go and my training is going on fine. I want to build more stamina and speed and hope to do better than I did last time around,' Saina said on the sidelines of the IPL match between Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab.

The 22-year-old from Hyderabad couldn't attend much matches of Deccan as she was busy with her international commitments.

'I was busy with the Olympic preparation and was playing tournaments. So I couldn't come and watch their match. But I have followed them and they have come so close of winning so many matches but defeats are part of the game. I hope they win today and do well in the tournament,' she said.

Asked how does she deal with defeats herself, the world number five Indian said: 'It is difficult. It depends on the particular day how you play and so the only thing I can do is go back, train harder and come back and hope to do well'
