He added, ‘Two days ago, I get a chance to interact with Modi and we talked on many burning issues. He appreciated my serious concern regarding constant threat from China. Twenty five years ago, when I went Peking (now Beijing), it was a small two room airport with limited frequency of flights. Now, in a second, ten planes are catching flight there. In economic terms too, China has emerge as strong nation who is lending money even to America. This all has happened due to strong leadership there. When our country will progress under Modi’s leadership, then we will retain the lost title of world guru.’
He further said, ‘Arvind Kejriwal couldn’t run government successfully in Delhi, then how he can run a large country of ours. What will happen, if 26/11 like terror attack strike again in any corner. Being a past chairman of the defense committee, I know the challenges of the country. We need an able administrator to tackle all these situations.’
On his dream project of railway line connecting Rishikesh and Karnaprayag, he said, ‘The UPA government couldn’t fulfill his dream project. But I am sure that when Modi will become PM, he will realize my project and we together will travel to reach holy pilgrimage.’
He criticized the ruling Harish Rawat-led Congress government by saying that only seven lakhs were given as compensation amount to hill villagers who lost their homes in last year natural calamity. In this way, they are encouraging migration of villagers to plains area of Haridwar or outskirts of Dehradun city.
He said, ‘We laid foundation of Uttarakhand so that more villages come on the state map. If Britishers could establish Ranikhet, Lancedown and Mussorrie, then more is expected from us. We create this state not for desertion of hill villages, but for flourishing it. The opposite can happen, if nationalist forces rule the country.’
