The Independence Day: Resurgence” director, Roland Emmerich isn’t a fan of the hugely popular superhero movie series and finds them silly. The 60-year-old filmmaker said his films always shows an ordinary person as the hero, rather than superheroes in capes. Although Independence Day focuses on an alien invasion, he finds it much more realistic, reported The Guardian. He said “When you look at my movies it’s always the regular Joe Schmo that’s the unlikely hero. A lot of Marvel movies, they show people in funny suits running around”.
“I don’t like people in capes. I find it silly when someone dons a superhero suit and flies. I don’t understand it. I grew up in Germany, that’s probably why”, he added. Emmerich would also love to cast a gay or transgender lead character in a blockbuster and says he just needs to write the perfect script.
The Godzilla creator is of the opinion that if one is successful then it’s not a taboo any more.
