I don’t believe in Mr Perfectionist title says Aamir

Superstar Aamir Khan says Dangal was a challenging first film for Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra as the project was physically gruelling and the debutants suffered many injuries during their wrestling training.

Dangal is a sports drama based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta and Babita. While Aamir essays the role of Phogat, Fatima and Sanya will be seen playing the daughters.

The actores trained for almost a year in wrestling and Haryanvi language before the beginning of the shoot. During the training Fatima sustained a rib fracture and Sanya had a hamstring injury, but they still continued with the training.

“Dangal is a very demanding film. As your first film it is very challenging. They are not in their comfort zone. Both Sanya and Fatima are city girls. They had to play girls from a small village. they had to mentally and physically transport themselves to another world,” said Aamir.

Aamir says he was elated by the dedication of the youngsters and they have outperformed him in the film.

“When I came in the industry, I came with a certain amount of passion. When I see these girls I see the same passion and thirst. So I can’t say that I am surprised. But I am very happy about it.” said Aamir.

Praising his other co-star, TV actor Sakshi Tanwar, who plays his wife in the film, Aamir said, “She gives her shot at one go. By good take I don’t just mean technically good, she feels the moment. Apart from acting she is such a wonderful human being. She is warm and always happy. It was a dream to work with her and I would love to work with her again.”

Aamir, 51, also said he never feels the burden of being called a perfectionist as he does not believe in the tag. “It puts no pressure on me because I don’t believe in the title. So that title is an inaccurate title. The correct title that fits me is not Mr Perfectionist, it should be Mr Passionate, that is what I am,”

Aamir says for him perfection in a shot is not about being technically faultless but more about capturing the heart of the scene.”When I am in a shot there are many elements that need to be right. There are a lot of technical problems because of which a shot has to be done again. I don’t look for technical perfections. What I look for in a shot is whether one has been able to capture the heart of the moment. Then you see the shot, you feel that it happened and everything fall in place.”

When asked, who he would like to see playing the female version of his character Akash, the actor said he wants his co-stars from upcoming film Dangal , Fatima and Sanya, to be part of the film.
