I am clueless about my Facebook account: Dikshit

Veteran Indian politicians have come under scathing attack in the virtual world, as scamsters post defamatory statements on their social networking websites such as Facebook or Twitter, including creating fake accounts. An addition to this list of politicos is Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who claims to be completely ignorant about the fact that an account has been created in her name on Facebook. The account carries her profile picture and she has 114 friends, including many municipal councillors and Youth Congress members.

Speaking to Millennium Post, Dikshit said, ‘I am clueless about such an account.’  A senior Delhi government official said the Facebook page  will be removed with immediate effect.

The official added, ‘Lack of clear guidelines about which content violates Section 66-A of the Indian IT Act has resulted in fake accounts and arbitrary arrests of innocent social networkers.’

Renowned cyber law expert Pavan Duggal said, ‘Creating a fake account is very easy. Whatever information you provide is directly fed into the account without verification.’   Parliamentary secretary to chief minister, Mukesh Sharma said, ‘This is wrong. The page should be removed as early as possible’.
