Husband, wife found dead at residence in Raghabpur

The police recovered the bodies of a couple from their residence at Raghabpur under Sonarpur police station in south 24 parganas on Tuesday morning.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem. The police said after failing to get response from the couple, local people went behind the house and found a window which was kept partly open. They peeped in and found the body of the housewife hanging from the ceiling. They informed police who came to the spot and broke open the main entrance.

The husband’s body was lying on the floor. The police said the husband might have murdered the wife and then committed suicide. No external marks of injury were seen.

Local people said the couple often fought over various issues. Though married for quite some time, the couple were childless and the husband blamed the wife. Recently, the husband lost his job and was going through financial constraints.

On Monday night they heard them shouting and blaming each other. Local people said both were early risers but on Tuesday, they saw the main entrance closed till 7am. This raised suspicion and they called more neighbours and asked some of them to break the door.
