House of school teacher aligned with TMC attacked

The house of a teacher, who is also a member of Trinamool Congress teachers association, was attacked by some miscreants at Raigunj of North Dinajpur district.

The teacher Amit Roy had informed the police that some people, who are allegedly involved in some financial irregularities in the school he teaches, might have planned the attack on his house.

Roy and his family were inside the house when it was attacked and they narrowly avoided any harm.

Police said some miscreants appeared in front of the house late on Saturday and started firing a barrage of bullets.

The bullets hit the walls and broke the window panes, but fortunately did not hit any of the members of the family. “The intension was to kill the teacher or the other members of his family. But the goons could not hit the target properly,” said a police officer.

The culprits, after failing to hit the target, started throwing stones at the house. Roy and his family luckily escaped again.

He called the police immediately, but the attackers fled the spot before cops could arrive. Police dogs followed the trail of the attackers towards a main road, but they managed to escape.

Police have started an investigation in the incident. “The teacher has hinted on who could be behind the whole conspiracy and attack. We have initiated a case,” said an investigating officer.

The miscreants used country-made pistols and came on motorcycles. “They may have come with several rounds of bullets.

Those goons may be professional killers and they might receive money for that,” the investigating officer said.

Police teams have begun a search operation to locate attackers. “We will call some teachers to come to the interrogation. But it is too early to comment on the incident,” said a police officer.
