Horror genre deserves respect: Wan
James Wan, known for his successful horror film like The Conjuring and the Insidious franchise, feels the genre deserves proper respect in Hollywood. “I love the genre and believe it deserves proper respect. despise filmmakers that are sheepish to call their horror films horror,” Wan wrote on Twitter.
The director is looking forward to the release of the sequel to The Conjuring titled The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist.
“I wanted to expand on the world we created on the first, and explore their characters more. #TheConjuring2. I love the cinematic characters of Ed & Lorraine Warren, and to continue their story.”
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprise their roles as real-life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren.
They go across the pond to investigate the case of the Enfield Poltergeist in England.
The Warrens encounter a single mother whose young daughter, Janet, is having a particularly haunting experience with demons. After having a premonition, Lorraine finds out that the family is just a “pawn” and “something inhuman” wants to kill her husband.
The Conjuring 2 arrives in theatres on June 10.
