Hope Royal Trophy comes to India soon: Jeev

Seasoned golfer Jeev Milkha Singh believes his inclusion in the Royal Trophy Players' Committee will enhance the probability of future editions of the prestigious event being held in Asia, especially India.

'Representing Asia is very important to me and the Royal Trophy is a truly unique Event,' said Jeev Milkha Singh, an Asian Team member at three editions of the Royal Trophy.

'I am very much looking forward to playing a role in guiding the Royal Trophy into the future and, together with my Committee counterparts from Asia and Europe, in steering the Competition towards its fundamental values of promoting the game not only in major markets, but also in developing countries and regions with large populations,' added the winner of 19 professional career titles.

'I hope that in the not too distant future an edition of the Royal Trophy will be played in India providing a further boost for the promotion of our sport in my home country,' added the winner of three European Tour tournaments and holder of 16 professional wins in Asia.

The Royal Trophy Players' Committee was recently expanded to include members from the Asian continent and is currently comprised of six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo, two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal, former world number one player Ian Woosnam OBE, European Ryder Cupper Paul McGinley, the winner of 75 career titles Isao Aoki, two-time Japan Golf Tour Order of Merit champion Naomichi 'Joe' Ozaki and Jeev.

The next edition of the Royal Trophy will be held on December 14-16 at The Empire Hotel and Country Club in the Sultanate of Brunei. The Matches will be held as a tribute to the late Seve Ballesteros and the European and Asian Teams will be captained respectively by Jose Maria Olazabal and Naomichi 'Joe' Ozaki.

Eight-time European Tour Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie OBE is the first player nominated by Olazabal for the European defense of the Trophy.
