‘Hope Deepika’s luck works in my favour for Tamasha’

Actor Ranbir Kapoor may be going through a rough phase in his <g data-gr-id="62">career</g> but he hopes his former girlfriend, actor Deepika Padukone brings good luck for him and their upcoming film Tamasha does well.

Deepika and Ranbir, who have previously starred together in Bachna Ae Haseeno and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, are reuniting on the big screen with Imtiaz Ali's upcoming romantic drama.
While the 29-year-old <g data-gr-id="61">Piku</g> actor is having a good run at the box office with back-to-back hits, Ranbir's last few films - Besharam, Roy and Bombay Velvet - have failed to create magic.

When asked whether Deepika would prove lucky for him in terms of box office success, Ranbir said, ‘It is not fair to label anyone as <g data-gr-id="66">lucky</g> charm. Deepika has worked very hard to be here (in the top). She is a dedicated person. I do hope her luck works on me and not mine on her.

‘It depends on Tamasha. If the film becomes successful then everyone would be happy to see our pairing,’ Ranbir, 32, said.

Deepika and Ranbir's last collaboration Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was a hit and their on-screen chemistry was appreciated.

The Rockstar actor said it is inspiring to work with her. ‘I have seen her growth as an actress. There is so much to learn from her. It is not only heart-warming but inspiring and encouraging to work with her,’ he said.

Ranbir said he doesn't feel the pressure for his next film. ‘There is less pressure as we have talented people like Deepika and Imtiaz on board for Tamasha. Imtiaz always brings the best in me and so is the case with Deepika. I have less pressure when I am working with them,’ he said.

The film is set to release on November 27 and Ranbir said he would not leave any stone unturned for the promotion of the film.

On the title of the film, Ranbir said, ‘We are in showbiz...Tamasha can be good or bad. But there has to be <g data-gr-id="69">limit</g> to it,’ he said.

Ranbir Kapoor also feels that his last release Bombay Velvet was not enticing enough to pull the audience.

Bombay Velvet directed by Anurag Kashyap bombed at the box office. But the Rockstar actor is happy and proud of all the films that he has done so far.

‘I am happy and proud to be working with everyone be it on Bombay Velvet or Besharam or any other film. The world of Bombay Velvet was not enticing... it did not have songs and all,’ Ranbir told reporters here last evening. ‘It seems that I did less promotion for <g data-gr-id="64">it</g> but that is not the case. While Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani had songs and, so it worked,’ he said.

Ranbir, who is currently going through a phase of <g data-gr-id="59">lull</g> in his career, has given memorable performances in films like Rockstar, Barfi, Rajneeti and others. He was billed as the next superstar of Bollywood.

On being the next superstar Ranbir, 32, said, ‘I have been hearing this from the last several years. I hope Tamasha reinstates that faith. We all want to do good work, do different and exciting films and roles,’ he said.
