homely dreams: Layout plan approval brings cheers for residents of Rajouri Garden Extension

The approval of the layout plan for Rajouri Garden Extension has given a great relief and new hope to the residents of the area.

People in the area are relieved that the move will save them from constant harassment from the municipal corporation officers and will also lead to a boom in property prices.

‘The rate of property will surely go up but the greatest relief we feel after the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) approved the layout plan of the colony is from regular harassment by local officers of the municipal corporation,’ local councillor Subhash Arya said. ‘The colony has almost all the civic amenities and vacant plots also to carry out development work,’ Arya added.

The Rajouri Garden Extension is spread over around 5.33 acres of land. Nearly 150 families live in the area with a population of around 600.

People are hopeful that they will get better civic amenities now that the layout plan has been passed. ‘We are still waiting for the final notification regarding regularisation by the government. As of now, residents of the colony are expecting to get legal right to fight with the concerned authorities for the betterment of civic amenities and for the over development work of the colony,’  said Resident Welfare Association member Arvind Kumar Gupta.

Gupta added that it will become easier for people to secure bank loans to build houses in the colony.

However, forgetting the final nod the RWA of the colony will have to pay a layout preparation fee before the plans are released.
