Home Secy clears police awardee list without consulting Kejriwal

“The list has been finalised and it will be sent to the LG office in a day or two,” Dharam Pal told Millennium Post.

<g data-gr-id="21">Pal</g>, however, denied consulting Home Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain or Kejriwal. According to sources, the CM’s office is keeping a tab on the issue and will respond at an appropriate time.
According to sources, Pal has finalised a list of 22 police personnel for medals, of which six names are for the President's <g data-gr-id="26">Medal,</g> while 16 are for Police Medals. "Earlier, the names of 40-50 police personnel were sent to the LG office against a quota of 20. But this time, only 22 names are being sent," said a senior officer of the Home Department.

Pal's appointment as Delhi Home Secretary has been controversial as the CM office had removed him, after he had issued an order to appoint Joint Commissioner of Police MK Meena as ACB chief, but the LG had reinstated him.

Delhi has two Home Secretaries – Rajender Kumar as per CM <g data-gr-id="24">office,</g> while Pal as per LG office. Kumar is also Secretary to the CM.

The issue could not be sorted out even after Chief Secretary KK Sharma issued an order, validating Pal’s appointment as Home Secretary and asking Kumar to stop performing the additional charge of Home Secretary assigned by the CM office.
