Actress-filmmaker Jodie Foster feels that more women are required behind the camera in Hollywood because of the prevailing gender imbalance.
The 52-year-old, who started acting when she was just three, has seen a lot of positive changes in the industry but feels more needs to be done for equality, reports people.com. “When I was growing up in the film business, I never saw a woman’s face,” Foster said at the Athena Film Festival Thursday, while accepting the Laura Ziskin Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Sometimes it was the lady who played my mom. Or occasionally it would be a makeup artist. But most often it would really just be me and the script supervisor.
“And little by little, as time went on, a few female faces started coming onto crews. And it changed everything,” added The Beaver director.
