HMC to hold awareness camps on vector-borne diseases today

Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) will organise awareness camps on the prevention of vector-borne diseases on August 20. According to an official of the health department of the corporation, the camps will be held at different locations including Howrah Dakshinpara Welfare Society, Ramkrishna Pally and Chandmari Road.

The campaign will begin at 10 am and will continue till all the targeted areas are covered. The officials of HMC will travel from one place to another and urge people to follow their directions to prevent spread of diseases like malaria and dengue.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had directed all the corporations and municipalities to take necessary steps to prevent vector-borne diseases. She had directed the Mayors and Chairmen during a meeting in Nabanna a week ago.

Soon after getting the direction of the Chief Minister, the corporation had initiated all sorts of measures necessary for checking vector-borne diseases. Senior officials and employees of HMC had visited many places like schools and colleges to ensure that there is no stagnant water.

Special drives were taken to ensure that there is no stagnant water in market places and other public places as well by the corporation.
