HIV+ man held for killing friend’s mother

In a strange tale of revenge, an <g data-gr-id="28">HIV positive</g> man has been arrested for allegedly murdering a woman at her residence in Outer Delhi's Vijay Vihar area, police said on Friday.

According to the police, Shanti Devi was found dead on April 21. She suffered multiple stab wounds and her head was smashed with a heavy stone slab. A sharp metal piece was also taken out from her skull during post-mortem examination, said police.

“A case of murder was registered and investigation taken up,” said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).

An eyewitness told the police that he had seen the accused enter the woman's house on April 21 evening, the day she was found dead.

The police started looking for the accused, who was on the run ever since. He was finally tracked at his hometown in Bihar, said a police official.

The accused told the police that he held a grudge against Devi's son Anil.

Both Anil and the accused were RTV drivers and frequently visited red light areas. They reportedly became enemies after a fight. A few days later, the accused was tested HIV positive, said a police official.

The accused told the police that Anil had sent a sex worker, who was HIV positive, to his residence to take revenge from him. Since then, the accused allegedly held a grudge against Anil and killed his mother.
