Hit or miss: DU second list of cut-offs brings hope for some

After the declaration of the second cut-off list for admissions to  Delhi University’s undergraduate courses on Sunday, it was found that while some colleges have closed admissions to various prestigious courses, an enormous dip of 22 per cent  in the cut-off was seen in those very subjects at other colleges.

In the second cut-off list, colleges have reduced per cent varying from 0.25 to 22 per cent. In Shri Aurbindo College, History (Honours) cut-off was reduced by 22 per centage and stood at 68 per cent. In the first cut-off list, the requirement was 90 per cent. A drop of 18 per cent was seen in the requirement for Politicial Science (Honours) in the second list as against the first one. In the science courses, the cut-off for Chemistry (Honours) has been reduced by 10 per cent,  in Botany (Honours) by 20 per cent and in Zoology (Honours) by 21 per cent.

In Bhagini Nivedita College the cut-off for History (Honours) and Political Sience (Honours) was brought down by 10 per cent, whereas the cut-off for Physics (Honours) was slashed by 10 per cent.

Entry to Economics (Honours) remained open at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). The cut-off was decreased by 0.25 per cent. At Ramjas College, the cut-off for Economics (Honours) in the second list remained the same as in the first cut-off list, 97 per cent.

In the second cut-off list, admission to Commerce (Honours) has been closed at Deen Dayal Upadhay, Dyal Singh, I P College For Women, among others. However, admission to Commerce (Honours) remained open at Daulat Ram College, Gargi College and Kirori Mal College.
Admission to English (Honours) remained open at Bheem Rao Ambedkar College with a cut-off of 86 per cent, Daulat Ram College where the cut-off is 95 per cent and Delhi College of Arts and Commerce where the cut-off is 93 per cent, among others.

Admission to science courses like Physics (Honors), Chemistry (Honours), and Botany (honours) remained open at Hindu and Hans Raj College. In the second cut-off list admissions to Mathematics (Honours) is open  at Miranda House where the cut off is  94.75 per cent and Lady Shri Ram College where the cut off is 95.75 per cent. Admission to Computer Science is still open at Hansraj College with 99 per cent, at Kalindi with a cut-off of 83 per cent and at Miranda House where the cut off is 98 per cent.
