High level meeting conducted by ER to discuss working and development of Railways

A high level meeting was held at Eastern Railway’s Headquarters at Fairlie Place on Friday to discuss and review the working, development and ongoing projects etc.

RK Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway before laying down office on superannuation said that Eastern Railway is one of the oldest and premier Zonal Railway of Indian Railways and it is a matter of great privilege to work in this Railway.

He expressed his happiness over the punctuality in running of Mail/Express and Suburban trains. 

There has been continuing improvement in punctuality in the current financial year. During April to December, 2015 punctuality figure of 92.23 % in respect of Mail/Express trains and 95.72% in respect of suburban trains have been achieved.

In every field, particularly in cleanliness, Eastern Railway has also made a mark by cleaning Sealdah and Howrah stations as well as small stations with active co-operation of NGOs like Rama Krishna Mission, Bharat Sevashram Sangha and Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation in ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.

RK Gupta expressed his confidence that Eastern Railway will be more passenger friendly and economically viable railway in the days to come.

Safety awards were also given by the General Manager to the ER staff for their outstanding services.

The GM also expressed his happiness on completion of New Jubilee Bridge on Naihati - Bandel Section. He inspected recently the last leg of the new bridge which is going to be commissioned and opened for traffic shortly.
