Hero MotoCorp suffers 7% sales decline

Country’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Friday reported a 6.61 per cent dip in sales at 5,33,305 units in April. The company had sold 5,71,054 units in the same month last year, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement. The rural demand for automobiles has been adversely impacted by unseasonal rains witnessed in the month of March, it added. "Poor crop realisation and a slowdown in rural wages have pulled back the rural economy, impacting retail off-takes in markets such as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and sugarcane growing areas of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra," the firm said.
