Heatwave sweeps India, T’gana, Odisha boil at 45°

With heatwave-like conditions prevailing across large parts of the country, over 25 weather stations of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), majority of them in Central and South-east India have recorded temperatures over 40 degree Celsius.

According to IMD, heatwave conditions are prevailing in MP, Vidharbha region of Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Rayalseema region of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Heatwave conditions are expected in Marathwada.

There was no respite from searing heatwave in Odisha with the IMD predicting the situation to continue for at least five more days. According to the weatherman, the entire western region was on boil with the mercury soaring up to 45.8 degrees Celsius in Sonepur.

As per the IMD data, many places in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have recorded temperatures over 40 degree. Telangana continued to be in the grip of severe heatwave with several areas recording high temperatures between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius on Friday.
