The winners of the first Gurgaon centric food awards, Food Freak Awards Gurgaon, 2014 were announced at a ceremony held at The Westin Gurgaon today evening. The awards were given in two categories Popular Choice and Jury Choice.

Made In Punjab, a fine dining restaurant serving lip smacking North Indian cuisine was voted as the Best Debut Restaurant in the Popular Choice, whereas the much loved Parsi and Iranian Cafe Soda Bottle Openerwala was conferred with Jury Choice in the same category. The awards also accoladed the Home Bakers of Gurgaon where in Sonica Singh of Healthy Bakers and Pooja Nabh of Cococraft Chocolates and Desserts were awarded in Jury Choice and Popular Choice respectively.  For People’s Choice an incredible 161,000 plus votes were cast, during the month-long voting period. Voters were tasked with choosing the best restaurants in 22 separate categories, ranging from Best Regional Indian Restaurant to Best European Restaurant and Best Biryani among Others.  

The winners of Jury Choice were selected by some of India’s finest food connoisseurs and consultants like celebrated Chef Kunal Kapur, Chef Sabyasachi Gorai, Food critic Anoothi Vishal among others who not only excel in identifying the very best recipes and culinary techniques but also understand the importance of food in relation to the culture of a region. 

Giving away the awards were luminaries from the industry like Rocky and Mayur of Highway on my Plate to Masterchef Manjeet Gill and Masterchef Manish Mehrotra.
