Headless body of woman found from sewer in South Delhi

A highly decomposed headless body of a female was found in a sewer outside a house in South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar Munirka. The police have registered a case and investigation is on to ascertain the identity of the deceased.

On Friday night at around 8 pm, the residents of a building in Munirka complained of foul smell. The tenants and the owner of the building then traced the smell to a sewer just outside the gate of the house. The sewer was opened and the residents were shocked to see a headless dead body of a female.

Immediately the police were alerted and the teams arrived. The body was fished out from the sewer. The dead body was highly decomposed and it seemed as if it has been dumped there approximately a week ago. The four-storeyed building has several tenants and the owners reside at the ground floor.

The neighbours gathered when the decomposed body was recovered. It is still not clear weather it was dumped in the same sewer or the dead body somehow made way to the sewer.

“We are trying to identify the deceased. Its a headless female body. Rest will be clear after the post-mortem,” said a senior police officer.

Police suspect it to be a case of murder and the head has been cut to conceal the identity of the deceased. The police are questioning the residents of the building to get some clue. The police are checking the list of various missing persons to make some headway in the case.
