HC warns of CBI probe into illegal construction in SDMC areas

The Delhi high court on Wednesday warned that it may order CBI probe into unauthorised construction in Mehrauli area of South Delhi and sought a status report as why police force was not provided to the squad carrying out the demolition drive.

“...status report submitted by executive engineer of SDMC shows that demolition drive has been carried out in some areas and in many areas no demolition drives were carried out as police force was not provided by the concerned police station,” a Bench comprising justices B D Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva said. 

The Bench directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police concerned to inquire into the matter and file a status report as why police protection was not provided by the police station concerned to the demolition squad despite its earlier direction. The court also noted the allegation levelled by an NGO that police protection are provided to the demolition drive on a pick and choose methods. Agencies
