Haryana to take action for declining cheque payments

The Haryana government on Tuesday issued an order to take stringent action against those business houses which are not accepting cheques, demand drafts and online payment from customers, an official said. Haryana’s Chief Secretary D S Dhesi on Tuesday issued orders to Deputy Commissioners to lodge complaint against business houses that refuse to accept payments from the customers in certain modes.

“It has been reported that certain business houses, including hospitals, caterers, tent houses and others, are not accepting cheques, demand drafts and online payment transfers from customers,” Dhesi said in his letter to Deputy Commissioners. “After consideration of the matter, the government has directed that in such cases customers may be advised to lodge their complaint to concerned Deputy Commissioners for an appropriate action against such establishments,” the top bureaucrat said in his letter.
