Haryana man gets Rs 1,776-cr power jolt!

A power consumer in Haryana got the shock of his life when he got an electricity bill for an astronomical amount of over Rs 1,776 crore for October-November period. The incident comes close on the heels of a ‘paan seller’ in Gohana town near Sonepat receiving a Rs 132-crore power bill. Ashok Kumar, a resident of Ram Nagar Tohana, got the power bill of Rs 17,76,00,06,775 for the two-month period. The bewildered consumer told reporters today that he almost fainted on seeing such a huge amount in the bill. He also alleged that he was “harassed” by the officials when he asked for the correct bill.
