Haryana inspector’s son killed, another injured in Noida shootout

According to police, the deceased, who was an engineer working with <g data-gr-id="31">a MNC</g> in the city, and his brother were attacked in the Noida Extension area.  

A case has been registered though the identities of the assailants remain a mystery. Meanwhile, the Station House Officer (SHO) and Police Post in-charge of the concerned area have been sent to the district police lines for dereliction of duty.

According to the police, the incident took place around 6 pm near NTPC crossing, a stone’s throw away from Sector 24 police station, when the victim, Sachin Sangwan and his brother Tarun Sangwan were going from Sector 60 to Noida Extension in an i20 car. When their vehicle reached the NTPC crossing, two bikers overtook their vehicle and fired several rounds of bullets at them. After the attackers had fled from the spot, passers-by informed the police and the victims were taken to Kailash hospital where the elder brother, Sachin, succumbed to his injuries. The condition of Tarun was stated to be stable.

On <g data-gr-id="22">course</g> of the investigation, it was found that both victims are the sons of Ranveer Singh, an inspector of the Haryana police, currently posted in Rohtak.

“We have registered <g data-gr-id="27">case</g> and are investigating the matter. There may be a rivalry behind the <g data-gr-id="26">murder</g> but <g data-gr-id="25">probe</g> is on from all angles. To identify the criminals, CCTV footages of the area is being scanned,” said a senior police official. 

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Noida has sent Anil Kumar, SHO of sector 24 and Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of the Police Post Sector 12/22 to District police lines for their negligence.
