Harry Shearer returns to The Simpsons

Voice artist Harry Shearer, an integral part of the The Simpsons, is returning to the long-running animated series for its 27th season.

According to a statement released by the Fox network, the 71-year-old voice artist and actor has reversed his decision and rejoined the team for the next two scheduled seasons.

The show's executive producer Al Jean had planned to re-cast Shearer's characters. The Simpsons is expected to return on September 27.
