‘Hang my son or make him impotent’

Champa Devi (35), mother of Vinay Sharma, on Wednesday broke into tears and said ‘mere bete ko fassi ki sazza de do!’ She added if he doesn’t get the punishment he deserves, he should be made impotent so that he remembers his crime. Sharma’s brother (15) and his two sisters who are in their early teens, said, ‘We don’t want to see our brother’s face again, not even in our dreams.’
Vinay is one of the accused who have been arrested for gang raping the 23-year-old para medic. He is a gym trainer in Siri Fort area and has earlier worked in a reputed gym at Pansheel area of south Delhi.
One of Vinay’s sister who studies in a nearby government school said: ‘It’s shameful for me that I stayed with him in a single-room accommodation since the day I was born.’ After Vinay’s arrest, his mother has been in a state of shock and says she is even unable to cook for the family. Millennium Post also visited the house of main accused Ram Singh and Mukesh at Ram Dass Colony, Sector 3, RK Puram, where they have been staying for two decades. Shanti, Ram Singh’s neighbour, told this reporter that several times her 12-year-old daughter complained against their abusive language. ‘They don’t have any sister which is why they don’t know how to respect women. Also, Ram’s wife died four years ago due to some health issues,’ she said.
